I spent all night on this game, then the morning after figuring out how the bot should decide its next move until I finally passed out at noon. Here's the deal:
The bot is not entirely random. There's always a chance that it could pick a random box to fill, but it will generally try to win the game or stop the player from winning. Occasionally and by random chance, the bot will miss the opportunity to do either of these, but it will mostly be pretty good at thwarting the player.
